Most guys in this hobby enjoy tech stuff, history stuff and educational material. Documentaries tend to cover that full range. Amiko TV has a large selection of first rate documentaries ranging from 20 minute shorts to 3 hour multipart documentary movies. The Thanksgiving Marathon selection has been hand picked by me and should appeal to most of our NA Amiko Alien/Alien2 owners.
The marathon will run from Thanksgiving to sometime on Sunday.
Amiko TV is available on Amiko Americas Alien/Alien2 Legacy WebTV Reloaded channel 212 and on the Amiko TV portal app.
To celebrate Halloween Amiko TV is having a Scifi & Horror movie marathon October 31st. From Halloween morning extending through the night Amiko TV will play a block of cheesy Horror & Scifi b-films, along with a few really good ones in there.
It will start sometime early morning and end around 24 hours later on November 1.
Amiko TV is on Legacy WebTV channel 212 and on the Americas Portal for Alien/Alien2 and will be coming soon to Amiko Nano HD.
Amiko TV is a bit different than other WebTV/IPTV channels. Amiko TV is fully produced and controlled by us here in the USA. All content is completely legal. The content is a nice mix of old and new movies, TV shows, first rate documentaries, good web series and other content. As of now there is nearly 1000 hours of content. Lineup is completely automatic and random which virtually ensures you’ll see something new each time you tune in. We can also run content in blocks or themed marathons.
Content should be family/all ages friendly with the possible exception of some of the “horror” movies that may not be appropriate for very young children.
Movies – Amiko TV movies range from classics dating back to HG Wells “Things to Come” to modern day productions and everything in between.
Documentaries – Amiko TV has hundreds of hours of hand picked documentary shows, specials and feature length films, most of them newer.
TV Shows – A variety of televisions shows from classics to modern productions is included in our media catalog.
Web – Amiko TV will be airing several web series and special productions.
Advertisements & Cost
Amiko TV carries no advertisements and is free on Amiko Americas STB’s with WebTV service. Since there is no charge for WebTV or Amiko TV and there is no advertising, Amiko TV is a non-commercial channel.
We’ll be adding content to the pool on a regular basis. If there is something you would like to see added (that is legal) please ask. If you are a content owner or rights holder and would like your content to appear on Amiko TV let us know.
Alien/Alien2 – Legacy WebTV Channel 212, Americas Portal App
Nano HD – Channel 20 (when new firmware released)
Android – Coming soon
OWS plays soccer and other sporting events from Europe and around the world. Since Eurosport appears to have dropped their international feeds OWS is a good alternative.
OWS is on channels 65 and 66 of the Legacy WebTV system. 65 is a 500k low res feed, 66 is somewhat better, running at 1400k.
This isn’t something we are talking about doing or would like to do, it is running on a Nano HD here right now. There are a couple things to sort out before a public release but nothing major.
Here are some details:
- It is a rather basic system compared to Alien/Alien2 WebTV and WebTV2. It takes awhile to load the channels and it doesn’t support the wide variety of feeds that A1/A2 can do. Even so, we’re still putting together a package for it.
- The system is similar to the A1/A2 server side controls. Channels can be added and updated server side without constantly having to install a new WebTV file. Nano HD owners can add their own channels too.
- Some VOD looks to be possible but again it will be much more limited than what we can do with A1/A2.
- There is no plans to do an authorization system like on A1/A2. It is already setup to only work only on our boxes. Initially WebTV will be limited to USA & Canada.
- As mentioned in the Nano HD review/first look, wireless does not work that great on any ALi box. It is highly recommended that you run an Ethernet cable to your Nano while waiting for the release file.
- Nano HD is meant primarily as a True FTA satellite receiver. We’re not going to develop a huge live IPTV system for it like we have for A1/A2. This new feature is a big bonus since we didn’t say anything about it or advertise it with Nano. If you are looking for a bunch of IPTV and VOD the Alien2 is still the way to go.
Active channels appear in white, inactive channels are locked out and in red.
There are no promises as to how long these channels are available. I would think they should be here for quite awhile. If they continue to work there are more we can add.
UK App is again located on the Americas Portal. Press the Portal (Home) key on your remote and select the UK flag icon to access.
The new App is similar to the “July 4th” test app in layout and function. There are several improvements over our original Crackle App.
-New media player, auto play start.
-Improved playback quality.
-”Recently Added” feed to highlight new movies.
-Splash page eliminated.
-Puerto Rico added to authorized markets list.
Unfortunately due to content and copyright restrictions the app is only available in USA, Canada and Puerto Rico.
Today the WebTV2 system has been changed to eliminate much of this. It is also much easier to use and navigate.
Instead of a central menu page with all the channels and categories each category (latest, news, general ect) now has it’s own menu page. When WebTV2 is launched it will show you the latest channels and you can quickly jump to one of them or to the category that interests you. It is also easy to jump between categories from any of the menu pages.
The “back” buttons with the player for each channel are also different. They now send you back to the category page for the channel, rather than sending you to the full list and making you go through all the channels to reach the next one.
Overall navigation and loading are much easier and faster. These changes also make the addition of new channels faster, which is happening in the near future.
The Amiko Americas UK App is on the Americas Portal and is available in NA, SA, New Zealand and Australia.
Special thanks goes to “G6 Girl” in Leeds, UK for technical assistance that helped this to happen for Americas.
To launch the app press the Portal (home) key on your remote and select the UK flag icon.
Many of these were pulled from another upcoming project. When you see them you’ll have an idea of some upcoming things being worked on.
